CAL repatriation flights confirmed for Miami and Nicaragua

In partnership with the Cayman Islands Government (CIG), Cayman Airways Limited (CAL) will be offering repatriation flights from Grand Cayman this weekend to Miami, Florida, and to Managua, Nicaragua.

On Friday April 17, 2020, flight KX3102, departs Grand Cayman at 11am and arrives at Miami International Airport (MIA) at 1:30pm. A second Miami flight, KX3114 (operated by World Atlantic), departs Grand Cayman at 12:30pm (Cayman time) and arrives in Miami at 3pm. 

Caymanians and/or Permanent Residents who are authorized by the CIG to travel inbound to the Cayman Islands, may travel on KX3113 departing Miami at 11am, arriving on Grand Cayman at 11:30am. Non-Caymanians (including work permit-holders) must contact the Government’s Travel Hotline to request permission to travel to Cayman and to book tickets, by calling 244-3333 or by emailing emergencytravel@gov.ky.  

On Saturday April 18, 2020, flight KX3070, departs Grand Cayman at 8:30am and arrives at the Augusto C. Sandino International Airport (MGA) in Managua at 9:05am (Managua time). A second flight (if required based on demand) KX3072 departs Grand Cayman at 1:50pm, arriving in Managua at 2:25pm (Managua time). No inbound passengers from Managua are being accommodated at this time. 

Seating

Due to social distancing and crew protection measures on these repatriation flights, middle seats will be left empty, and no Business Class seats will be sold or assigned. 

Baggage Allowance

Passengers will be allowed two free checked bags up to 55lbs per bag (not exceeding linear dimensions of 62 inches per bag), plus one carry-on bag not exceeding 11" x 16" x 24". No additional bags, or overweight/over-sized luggage, will be permitted on any repatriation flight.

Pets

For outbound Miami flights, a limited number of pets can be accommodated on a first-come, first-serve basis. Passengers are responsible for ensuring they meet all necessary customs requirements for the importation of pets to any country. No pets will be allowed on inbound flights to Cayman.

For Managua flights: no pets can be accommodated

Other travel requirements:

  • All passengers must present at check-in and boarding with their own face mask, which they must wear for the duration of each flight
  • Persons travelling to the United States must be US citizens or those legally able to travel to/through the USA
  • Persons travelling to Managua must be citizens of Nicaragua

Note: passengers are responsible for ensuring that they have the necessary travel documents for entry into any foreign country

  • Passengers with existing tickets for travel to and from Miami will be able to use them for these repatriation flights.
  • Bookings for the inbound Miami flight KX3113 on Friday April 17, 2020 must be pre-approved and booked via the Cayman Islands Government’s Travel Hotline 244-3333 weekdays 9am-5pm, or email emergencytravel@gov.ky.
