As the Official Airline of Cayman Carnival Batabano, Cayman Airways Limited (CAL) is also proud to support Cayman's young masqueraders in Juniour Batabano, taking place on Saturday, April 25, 2015!
"Each year, Cayman Airways provides roundtrip airfare for the committee's official costume designer for Jr. Batabano to travel to Grand Cayman to get students from participating schools ready for the road," said Cayman Airways Marketing & Public Relations Manager, Olivia Scott Ramirez. "We are very excited about seeing this year's costume designs and wish all masqueraders the best of luck with the competition categories.
The venue is the grounds of the Glass House (old Government Building) in George Town, where Family Fun Day activities for children of all ages will start at 1pm. The street parade starts at 3pm, featuring many masquerade bands by schools all over Grand Cayman, as well some private bands.
The Cayman Carnival Committee says the continued growth and development of the Junior Parade prompted the Cayman Carnival Batabano committee to launch a stand-alone street parade in 2005 for Cayman's youth, called "Junior Carnival Batabano", which takes place on the weekend before the adult parade. Junior Batabano creates a safe environment for children to play "mas".
