PSA: CAL assists passenger with deplaning

Cayman Airways can confirm that the video being circulated on social media was taken on October 23, 2017 by a passenger on board Cayman Airways flight KX620 destined for Jamaica, while the aircraft was still on the ground at the Owen Roberts International Airport (ORIA) on Grand Cayman.

The aircraft was at the gate with passengers boarded, but with the main cabin door still open while a minor maintenance issue was being resolved before departure. Shortly after the Captain announced that the maintenance work was completed and that the aircraft would soon be on its way, a female passenger left her seat and began shouting and jumping as can be seen in the video.

Out of concern for this passenger's well-being and that of the other passengers and the flight crew, Cayman Airways'  standard procedures were followed by not allowing the passenger to travel on the flight. The passenger's luggage also had to be located and removed from the aircraft's cargo compartment.

The departure time was 8:13am instead of 7:00am as scheduled.

Cayman Airways President and CEO, Fabian Whorms, said: "In assisting the passenger to deplane from the aircraft, our staff treated the passenger with our usual care, respect, and courtesy. We sincerely apologise to all our passengers on this flight for any inconveniences they may have experienced from this event."
