New jobs created with the opening of a new Cayman Airways Call Center in Cayman Brac

Cayman’s national airline, Cayman Airways opened a new ticket office and reservation centre in Cayman Brac on December 12, 2013, bringing employment opportunities along with enhanced customer services to the Sister Isle.

Located in the Captain Charles Kirkconnell International Airport Plaza in West End, the new Cayman Airways facility represents a significant investment, and will inject much needed growth into the Sister Islands economy through job creation as well as improved customer services.

The new ticket office currently employs two full time agents, and efforts will shortly be underway to recruit additional staff.

Expressing his delight for the new venture, the Hon. Moses Kirkconnell – Deputy Premier and Minister of District Administration, Tourism & Transport said this was an important step forward for the Sister Islands.

“I can't think of a better way to end 2013 than celebrating the opening of this call centre which will not only bring new job opportunities to Cayman Brac, but will also offer residents and customers dedicated and specialized services for all their travel needs. This is a significant achievement and on behalf of the Government I commend and thank Cayman Airways for their continuous support of the Sister Islands,” he said.

Cayman Airways President and CEO, Fabian Whorms, said the airline takes its responsibilities to both Cayman Brac and Little Cayman seriously, as Cayman Airways is the only airline with scheduled service to the Sister Islands.

“The opening of these new offices in the Brac is an important step in our long term commitment of working with the Government to drive economic development in the Sister Islands,” he noted. “Our Sister Islands activities are extremely important to Cayman Airways as Sister Islands’ traffic accounts for almost 20 per cent of the total passengers moved by the airline.”

Once the additional staff are recruited, Mr. Whorms said the call centre in Cayman Brac will also serve to back up the call centre based in Grand Cayman. The new facility will be open from 8am to 5pm Mon-Fri and can be contacted by calling 345-948-2535 or 345-948-1437.

Executive VP of Finance Commercial Affairs, Paul Tibbetts, noted that in addition to having a dedicated Ticket Office and Call Centre in the Brac, the airline also opened its new dedicated Cargo Office and storage facility for improved convenience to customers.

“This new location expands our cargo facilities from just a desk and counter at the airport, to a brand new office with greatly increased warehouse space,” stated Mr. Tibbetts. “We are very excited about the developments, as well as our future plans, and we look forward to continuing to work with our valued stakeholders and other partners to ensure all plans for future expansion of Cayman Airways become a reality.”
