Cayman Airways is monitoring the Federal Aviation Administration’s order requiring particular inspections on the Boeing 737-9 models operated by U.S. carriers or in U.S. territories, following the Alaska Airlines incident on Friday January 5, 2024. Cayman Airways confirms that this order does not apply to the Cayman Airways jet fleet which is comprised of a different aircraft model, the B737-8. The incident, and subsequent groundings, relate only to the B737-9 model which has a mid-fuselage emergency exit structural provision, which is not a part of the structural design and construction of the B737-8 model operated by Cayman Airways.
