This week’s launch of the Cayman Islands’ national festival, Pirates Week, comes with the annual support from the country’s national airline, Cayman Airways Limited (CAL).

As the “Official Airline” of Pirates Week, Cayman Airways has been a major sponsor of the festival for about as many years as the event has been around.  In its strategic role of bringing visitors to the Cayman Islands, Cayman Airways supports the various Pirates Week festivities popular with tourists and residents alike.

“Pirates Week was established many years ago to encourage visitors to come to Cayman during a traditionally slow time of year,” explained Cayman Airways President and CEO, Fabian Whorms, noting that there is no other festival in the region this time of year like Cayman’s Pirates Week. “The benefit from the swashbuckling Pirates Week festival is good for everyone who lives, works, and plays in Cayman, and we at Cayman Airways are proud to play our part in that success each year.”

In addition to supporting the festival directly, Cayman Airways also incorporates the pirate theme into the company’s culture for enhancing both the employee experience and customer experience during the festival. Passengers travelling on Cayman Airways during Pirates Week’s launch weekend - or visiting the company’s ticket offices on Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac and Little Cayman - may see CAL staff dressed down in Pirates Week T-shirts and accessories, as well as handing out beads to passengers arriving at Owen Roberts International Airport (ORIA). Spectators attending the annual Pirates Landing and Float Parade on the Waterfront in George Town on Saturday November 8, 2014 will also get the chance to see the airline’s mascot, Sir Turtle, in the parade.

Melanie McField, Executive Director of the Pirates Week festival said: “Cayman Airways has been a major sponsor of the festival for many years and we are happy to have them as our Airline Partner. The Cayman Airways slogan “Those Who Fly Us, Love Us” exemplifies their involvement with Pirates Week. Whether in the air or on the ground, they have shown solid support to the Festival and that is why we love them.”

Pirates Week 2014 events on Grand Cayman run from November 6 - 16, 2014. Events on Cayman Brac were on November 1, 2014 and Little Cayman’s events are slated for November 21-22, 2014. For more Pirates Week details visit www.piratesweekfestival.com
