With the Cayman Islands’ national airline’s colorful livery adorning both sides of a 16-foot-tall main entrance, along with a bold “Welcome Aboard” banner message, Cayman Airways Limited (CAL) made a bold entrance at this year’s Taste of Cayman Food and Wine Festival.
Cayman Airways was Taste of Cayman’s first official “Entrance Sponsor”, which the airline says falls in line with one of the attributes of being Cayman’s national flag carrier.
“Our customers who reside in Cayman have always said they feel as if they’re already home the moment they board Cayman Airways, and visitors who fly with us say they feel as if their Cayman vacation begins the moment they step on board with us, so being the first to welcome visitors and residents alike to one of Cayman’s major festivals was a very fitting opportunity for us,” explained the airline’s Marketing and Public Relations Manager, Olivia Scott-Ramirez.
Moving to the beat of vibrant steelpan music played by Michael Lemay, Cayman Airways uniformed Customer Service Agents Iva Ebanks and Sonia Bennett, led by Quality Assurance and Customer Service Manager Patsy Cotterell, were on hand offering tastes of the airline’s famous rum punch which is complimentary on every Cayman Airways international jet flight.
Mrs. Scott-Ramirez noted that the event was also a good opportunity to promote one of the airline’s newest routes – Panama, Central America. Festival patrons got the opportunity to enter-to-win a trip to Panama this Summer with Cayman Airways, and they received promotional “Boarding Passes” with 10% off airfare from Grand Cayman to Panama. Jessica Dilbert, also a CAL Customer Service Agent, donned the beautiful Panamanian traditional “Pollera” dress for the occasion.
Cayman Airways’ seasonal Panama route returns June 12th, 2014 and runs through September 1st, 2014. Flights are available now for booking through travel agents, via www.caymanairways.com or by calling Cayman Airways Reservations on 345-949-2311.
Taste of Cayman is organized by the Cayman Islands Tourism Association (CITA), and officials say that with more than 5,000 people in attendance, it was the biggest one yet. Executive Director of CITA, Jane van der Bol, said: “Having Cayman Airways sponsor our entrance this year was a great compliment to the overall festival. Taste of Cayman Food & Wine Festival is the largest gastronomic event in Cayman and truly a night of food, wine, entertainment and memories. Cayman Airways was a warm welcome to the beginning of a night of festivities. We were delighted to have them ‘on board’ with us!”
