Seven Cayman Airways Aircraft Maintenance Staff Obtain New Qualifications

Four of Cayman Airways' Senior Aircraft Mechanics recently upgraded their qualifications to Aircraft Maintenance Technicians (AMT) and three Aircraft Maintenance Technicians have upgraded their qualifications to Aircraft Maintenance Engineers (AME).

The newly qualified Aircraft Maintenance Technicians are Sidney Miller, William'Bill"Jackson, Rodriques "Rod" Watler and Kenny Prendergast who all recently received their FAA Airframe and Powerplant Technician License. This FAA license serves as the foundation to become further qualified as Aircraft Maintenance Engineers with the authority to issue "Certificates of Release to Service" for the Boeing 737 jets operated by Cayman Airways.

Vice President of Maintenance and Engineering, Mr. Fabian Whorms says, "In order to sit the FAA License examinations in the USA, the candidates combined several years of practical experience with academic training conducted mostly on site at Cayman Airways by Mr. Pete Osborn, the Manager of Aircraft Maintenance Training. This local training was supplemented by final preparatory training at the King's School of Aeronautics in Daytona Beach after which, the candidates successfully sat the FAA license examinations comprised of several parts including both written and practical elements."

The recently qualified Aircraft Maintenance Engineers are Bruce MacMillan, Christopher McCoy and Melford Solomon who already held FAA Airframe and Powerplant Technician Licenses and successfully upgraded their qualifications to issue "Certificates of Release to Service" after gaining the required level of experience and successfully completing very detailed courses and examinations specific to the Boeing 737 aircraft and procedural requirements.

"Cayman Airways is extremely proud of these seven (7) Caymanians, who have all worked diligently to significantly upgrade their qualifications and the Board of Directors, Management and Staff of Cayman Airways wishes them continued success with their career development." Mr Whorms stated.
